In Spring / Summer 2019 we've been seeing a myriad of fashionistas, influencers and celebs all over the world wearing bike shorts...without a bike and definitely not working out either.
Cycle Shorts or Bike Shorts are the newest athleisure trend to hit the scene. Some may say we have Kim Kardashian to thank for popularizing this major cycle-shorts-are-real-pants trend in 2018 - but turns out Princess Diana was the OG for styling cycling Shorts.
Princess Diana was spotted wearing a pair of (hot pink) bike shorts teamed with dad sneakers, and a sweatshirt back in 1995. This was also a grunge look back in the '90s.
Side note - I for the record, have also worn a pair of black biker shorts in 2004 during freshman year phys.ed class - but it definitely did not look as hip on me. Will have to try this look again!
I was originally convinced that this questionable trend is merely just a fad - but now I am thinking this trend isn't vanishing anytime soon.
Not only are these shorts comfy and stretchy - and I don't know what it is - but there is also something quite sexy about these cycling shorts.
From sporty, casual and streetwear combos to more crisp tailored blazers, dressy and polished attire - there really is a style for everyone.
Keep scrolling to find some inspiration on how to stylize this trend.
